Again this year the St. Vincent de Paul Society is asking for your help to provide some comfort and a brighter day to some of our area’s homeless, through our parish “Shoebox” drives. We ask that every family who can, take a box home with them and fill it with personal items, deodorant, wash clothes, toothpaste, such as bar soap, playing cards, etc. These may seem like such simple everyday items to us that we take them for granted, however these are often unaffordable luxuries for those who live on the streets.
The empty shoeboxes and a list of suggested items can be picked up from a table at the back of the church after each of the Masses and returned to the same location next weekend—October 15-16. The filled shoeboxes will then be distributed, through area soup kitchens, to the homeless.
